Emi Hamnett

Piano Instructor

Emi started playing piano at the age of six in Japan and graduated from Osaka University of Music, majoring in Voice. While advancing in her studies, she continued piano and voice lessons with several professors, and obtained her junior high school teacher certificate in Japan. Emi also graduated Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s SEA program and holds an Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certificate along with a Special Education Teacher Assistant Certificate. Since obtaining her credentials, she had been working in the school district as a casual Educational Assistant.

Combining her love for music and passion for teaching others has resulted in her teaching piano independently to students of all ages and skill level for over 10 years. This includes helping her students pass their RCM exams.
As testament to her belief that music is a lifelong learning experience, Emi has successfully completed her RCM exams, and is currently working towards her ARCT examination in piano performance.

She also believes that music can be a powerful form of stress relief and adapts her lessons according to each of her student’s unique strengths and weaknesses to ensure the experience remains positive and beneficial for each of her students.
